Product Details

Properties: It is a white crystalline powder or flaky crystal, odorless or with a slight characteristic odor. It is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in benzene and acetone.
Microorganisms (such as propionic acid bacteria) are used to convert carbon sources (such as glucose, sucrose, etc.) into propionic acid under suitable culture media and fermentation conditions. Then, propionic acid reacts with calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate to form calcium propionate.
Application Fields
Food Industry
Preservative: It can inhibit the growth of molds, yeasts, and aerobic bacteria, and extend the shelf life of foods such as bread, pastries, soy products, and jams.
pH Regulator: It helps maintain the acid-base balance of foods, and improves the flavor and texture of foods.
Feed Industry
Antimildew Agent: It prevents feed from mildewing and deteriorating, maintains the nutritional value of feed, and reduces animal diseases caused by feed mildew.
Growth Promoter: It regulates the pH value of the animal's gastrointestinal tract, promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria, improves the animal's digestion and absorption of feed, and thus promotes animal growth.
Other Fields
Pharmaceutical Industry: As a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is used in the synthesis of certain drugs.
Cosmetics Industry: It can be used as a preservative to prevent the growth of microorganisms in cosmetics and extend the shelf life of cosmetics.
Building Materials Industry: Adding calcium propionate to some building materials can improve the mildew resistance of the materials.
